Meet the CAMP Lab and learn about opportunities to join.
Dr. Debbie Yee is an incoming Assistant Professor and Director of the Computational Affective Motivational Psychiatry (CAMP) Lab at the University of Iowa (Starting August 2026). She received her B.S. in Brain and Cognitive Sciences from MIT and her Ph.D. in Psychological and Brain Sciences from Washington University in St. Louis, followed by postdoctoral training at Brown University. Her research investigates the mechanisms of motivation, affect, and decision-making, with a focus on translating neurocomputational frameworks to understand the neural and computational basis of mental health. She is also a member of the Cognitive Control Collaborative and a Faculty Mentor in the Behavioral-Biomedical Interface Training Program (BBIP).
Tony El Nemer
Tony El Nemer is an incoming Lab Manager for the Computational Affective Motivational Psychiatry (CAMP) Lab. He is a recent graduate at Brown University with a Sc.B in Psychology and an AB in Computer Science. He is broadly interested in how biopsychosocial factors impact development across the lifespan, particularly in adolescents and immigrant populations. He further aims to use computational and behavioral methods to understand the mechanisms that drive psychopathology after a traumatic experience.
Gina Mazurenko
Gina Mazurenko is an incoming Lab Manager for the Computational Affective Motivational Psychiatry (CAMP) Lab. She is a recent graduate of UCLA with interests in psychology, neuroscience, and computational approaches to mental health. In the lab, she supports research on motivation, affect, decision-making, and their relevance to mental health. She is especially interested in how behavioral and computational methods, and how they explain individual differences.
The CAMP Lab is recruiting undergraduate RAs, graduate students, and postdoctoral researchers. Graduate applicants may apply through the Psychological & Brain Sciences Graduate Program or the Neuroscience Graduate Program. The deadline is Dec 1, 2026.
Postdoctoral applicants may apply here. (view job description).
Undergraduate RA applicants may apply here.
We welcome candidates with backgrounds in cognitive or affective neuroscience, computational modeling, data science, computer science, or clinical science. The CAMP Lab is committed to inclusive excellence and mutual respect — we believe diverse perspectives make for better science.
